The Waterloo Biofilter treats wastewater through a biological filtration process. After solids are settled in a septic or primary tank, the liquid effluent is distributed through the biofilter, where microorganisms break down organic pollutants and nutrients. The treated water then passes through a final polishing stage before being safely discharged into the environment.
This low-energy, low-maintenance system is ideal for Ontario’s varying soil and climate conditions.
